The ski resort of Jasná is experiencing truly historic moments. The Women´s Alpine Skiing World Cup is coming back to the slopes of Mt. Chopok after 32 years. The preparations for this exceptional event have taken more than one year. The world cup is a significant celebration of sport for Jasná, the region of Liptov, all Slovakia and the whole skiing community. By hosting a world cup race, Jasná is returning to the map of world skiing again. Visitors can look forward to various concerts, competitions, an aprés-ski party, a fashion show, a public bib draw with racers, a victory ceremony and an unforgettable atmosphere during three days. The World Cup programme begins in Jasná today (Thursday 3rd March) with a big Happy End World Cup party and the so called Bronze Night with DJ Makro Mazág. On Friday 4th March, the official training is scheduled for 10:00-12:00. Fans can enjoy a Wheel of Fortune and competitions, TV JOJ in Jasná, an aprés-ski party and the so called Silver Night in the Happy End music club in the evening with Rytmus and Dara Rolins, Mike Saxi, DJ EKG and GOGO dancers. On Saturday 5th March, female racers will be competing at 10:30am in the 1st round and at 13:30 in the 2nd round of the giant slalom race. JOJ TV will be broadcasting live from the resort of Jasná. From 12:00noon, visitors and fans of fun can enjoy a great party called FUNRADIO DOHODA on the snow with DJ Julo alias Phyton, Hex, Heľenine oči, Polemic. The public bib draw with world-class racers begins at 18:15 and will be followed by a fashion show, a concert of Majk Spirit and the so called Golden Night with DJ EKG, DJ Milan Lieskovský, Mike Saxi, Bongoman Elizz and GOGO dancers. On Sunday 6th March, the 1st round of the slalom race is scheduled for 10:30, the 2nd round for 13:30. DJ Carlo will be entertaining people from a grooming machine, there will be various competitions, a SKI simulator and the so called Platinum Celebration World Cup after party. The AUDI FIS SKI WORLD CUP JASNÁ 2016 will welcome 87 female racers from 18 countries of the world on Saturday and Sunday 5th – 6th March: Slovakia, Austria, Belarus, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, the USA and Liechtenstein. Among the biggest skiing stars there are Mikaela Shiffrin, Frida Hansdotter, Veronika Velez – Zuzulová, Petra Vlhová, Lara Gut and others. Almost 600 people have been helping prepare the World Cup. Technical equipment was transported to the resort by three lorries. 8 km of safety nets with about 5,500 poles and about 350 metres of safety mattresses were used along the race and training course, 300 poles will be used for the race itself. The World Cup course has been prepared for about 10 days by 10 – 120 people and it took 4 days to build the stands for spectators. Almost 180 journalists from Germany, France, Sweden, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, the USA, Italy and Ghana sought accreditation for the World Cup in Jasná.
Women´s and men´s World Cup races took place in Jasná three times in the past. In 1979 and 1982, men were competing within the oldest skiing event in Slovakia – Grand Prix of Demänovské caves, in 1984, it was women.
