Three pistes have been available at the resort of Štrbské Pleso from Friday, 1st December – Interski, Turistická and Junior. “The snow conditions are very good on the three pistes, there is about 45 centimetres of snow. Skiers should enjoy great fun there,” said Peter Tomko, the general manager of the Štrbské Pleso resort. He added that the piste of Esíčko was being covered with man-made snow intensively.

One week after the resort opening, top Slovak tennis players will present their unique skills at the amusing “parallel ski-tennis downhill” race on Saturday, 8th December. Miloslav Mečíř, Marián Vajda, Karol Beck and Czech starts Leoš Friedl and Václav Roubíček have confirmed they would come. “Lacko, Gomboš, Schmiedlová and Kužmová will be in the Tatras at the same time too so we hope they will come to cheer their colleagues on the snow,” said Branislav Stankovič, the organiser of ATP Challenger tour Poprad-Tatry.

The ski season in Tatranská Lomnica is going to be launched one week later – with a spectacular season opening on Saturday, 15th December. All resort visitors will get a chance to go back in time to the 1930s and 1940s for one day. “Personal servants will be at disposal in the resort of Tatranská Lomnica to help our clients carry their skiing equipment, remove snow from their clothes, wax their skis or polish their ski boots,” explained Lukáš Brodanský, the sales and marketing manager at Vysoké Tatry.

The servants will be offering warming cups of tea, blankets, help the skiers embark and disembark the cable cars. “The spoiling care will be guaranteed also inside the cable cars – our passengers will get sunglasses, fresh newspapers and even small drinks to enjoy the trip more,” added Mr. Brodanský.   The programme begins at 8:20am with various activities, a dance performance and a grand cable car opening. Collectors will love the special edition of zero-Euro-banknotes with Mt. Lomnický štít depicted. “They will be sold in the area of Skalnaté Pleso all day long. To support the sales campaign, the 75 Secrets of a Cable Car product will be offered at Skalnaté Pleso all day long,” said Mr. Brodanský.
