One week before the most beautiful holiday of the year (16.12.2019), children from three kindergartens in the town of Vysoké Tatry together with their teachers and headmasters introduced their projects that they could implement thanks to the grant programme of the TMR company – A Better Life in the Town of Vysoké Tatry. Kids from Nový Smokovec are happy about a new educational trail that will help them learn all trees that grow behind their windows. “With projects of this kind, children can grow, discover nature and learn to respect it. It´s one of the ways how to educate the younger generation,” said Ján Mokoš, the mayor of the town of Vysoké Tatry.

Kindergarten pupils from Tatranská Lomnica will fill their bellies with vegetables and herbs that they can grow in their elevated garden beds financed by the grant. “Kids can grow there everything that they know probably only from supermarkets. They will learn how to take care of the plants to understand how much has to be done to have the delicacies on the plate. We are very thankful to the grant programme for support. Schools in the High Tatras need such kind of help,” said Alena Jankulíková, the headmaster of the kindergarten in Tatranská Lomnica.

Kids in the kindergarten of Tatranská Kotlina will train and improve their motor skills on new climbing frames, a rope hill and swings. “With the project, our children can enjoy physical movement, discover something new and develop their physical skills. It helps them grow up in a healthier way,” explained Martina Nováková, the deputy headmaster of the kindergarten in Tatranská Kotlina.

The completed kindergarten projects were the last ones on the “agenda” of the first grant programme year. “We appreciate that the cooperation with the biggest investor in the High Tatras has got more intense and I hope this cooperation will continue for long,” commented the mayor of Vysoké Tatry. Dušan Slavkovský, the general manager of the mountain resorts in the High Tatras added that the company had been pleasantly surprised by the interest in the project which had been introduced by TMR to support local inhabitants of the Tatras. “It also confirmed that our decision had been right. I would like to thank all institutions that have joined our programme and helped make the Tatras a better place to live in thanks to their effort and creativity,” he said.

The second year of the grant programme was announced on the Cableway Open Day in late October. Local Tatra people can submit their projects until 31.12.2019. The sum meant for the support is as high as EUR 20,000. “The grant money can be applied for only by legal entities that are active in the territory of the town,” concluded Dušan Slavkovský. The grant application forms are available online: www.aketatrychceme.sk/grantovy-program-tmr/. One project can be supported with a maximum amount of EUR 3,000. All applications will be evaluated by a jury consisting of TMR company members, representatives of the town of Vysoké Tatry and independent authorities of the town.
