During the second year of the project, the TMR company has been helping pupils from over 200 classes of all around Slovakia. Pupils who know that our nature needs to be protected and treated with respect. More than 5,000 kids have been cleaning nature and actively working on various creations and projects that are meant to develop the ecological awareness not only among children but also other members of the public.

Projects that will be carried out during the year serve as examples and are significant for the whole society. “We are very happy to support activities that are created by children but are truly wide-spreading. The project of an educational trail in the area of Muránska Planina is a great example of such activities. It has been made by pupils of the Evangelical secondary school of Tisovec and should be completed with financial support of TMR in September. TMR employees cannot wait to help build the trail during a special volunteers´ day. As our company is active in the natural environment, we do not take this environment for granted and do our best to take care of it properly. Thanks to the Green Chopok project, we have cleaned the area of Mt. Chopok from waste and have planted trees. We also try to use naturefriendly technologies in our resorts every day, reduce the energy consumption, use as much green energy as possible. While solving traffic problems as well as in terms of further development of our activities, we focus on ecological solutions as much as we can. TMR does not only support projects related to ecological issues but we want to set the example, even as far as ordinary operational activities are concerned,” says František Šoltis, the head of the TMR Commercial department.

The project of the Tatra Knights has three categories. Pupils and students have been creating visual and audiovisual works, and preparing feasibility studies for projects. Top three projects will be carried out in autumn. Children have also cleaned and helped revitalise nature in their areas – as members of the so called Ecological Patrols, which is considered to be one of the conditions for participation in the project.

“For the past two years, the project has been like an inexhaustible source of ideas and observations of children related to our ecological behaviour towards nature and our relationship to the environment. Children have a simple, clean and direct perspective. Every year, we learn from them. It does not take much to improve our relationship to the
environment around us, to appreciate what we have and take care of it properly. With simple steps, small acts, like kids do it. This is one of the reasons why we believe that this project is meaningful and we all can get ,infected’ by children,”
added Anna Bieliková of the PR department and the Essence communications agency.

The Methodological-Pedagogical Centre acts as the expert project supervisor. The project is supported by the TMR company, which is the leader in tourism in Central and Eastern Europe and combines its business success with care for the environment which it is active in. After all, responsibility is also about supporting projects and educating children to behave responsibly too. For more information, please visit www.tatrytieri.sk
