The slopes of the Tatras are ready to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new one. There is 20-40 cm of snow on Mt. Chopok and the snow conditions are very good, good or limited in some areas of the Low Tatras. Local Tatra people hope that the less pleasant phase of weather, which has not been favouring the snow-making, will finish towards the end of the year and freezing nights will return to the mountains again. The High Tatras are happy about very good snow conditions (40-50 cm) and skiers are enjoying skiing on sunlit pistes from Skalnaté Pleso (1,751 metres above sea level) to Tatranská Lomnica, the pistes of Jakubkova lúka I and II in Starý Smokovec are opened as well and the same applies to 6 pistes in Štrbské Pleso, i.e. the complete resort. Waiting for the year of 2016 on the so called “1970 World Championships Square” in Štrbské Pleso begins in a symbolic way at 11:00am – by baptising a snow flake, the oath of ski instructors and fun with a mimic duo. Guests staying at Tatra hotels are looking forward to an unforgettable New Year´s Eve night with a rich gala programme and delicious gourmet specialities. German singer Natasha Wright will be headlining the evening in the grand hotels of Starý Smokovec and Tatranská Lomnica, the FIS hotel in Štrbské Pleso has prepared a special programme with karate world champion Roman Volák and singer Mamba Dáša Šarközyová, and the Homosapiens band along with trial world champion Ján Kočiš will welcome the New Year at the Grand Hotel in Jasná. For more information about the programme at TMR hotels, please click HERE. A great party on the dance floor begins in the Happy End music club in Jasná on 09:00pm and the water parks of Tatralandia and GINO Paradise Bešeňová have prepared a rich programme as well. The Tropical Paradise of Tatralandia guarantees 30-degree summer heat, sea and thermal water, relaxation on the Island of the Caribbean Pirates, in the wellness centre and in the Celtic Sauna World, as well as a real dose of adrenaline on 5 year-round water slides. An unforgettable tropical party begins at the turn of the year with attractive dance performances, a Queenie concert, which brings famous songs of the “Queen” back to life, and aqua gym in salt sea water. The best New Year´s Eve entertainment continues with unique LED fireworks at midnight. For more details, please click HERE. This year, a non-traditional New Year´s Eve in pools will be offered also in the nearby water park of GINO Paradise Bešeňová with a funky-style programme. The tickets for New Year´s Eve parties in pools are available on www.gopass.sk. Those who want to enjoy their holidays in the region of Liptov also after the New Year, there is an original Speed Bag Race prepared in the resort of Jasná on 2nd January 2016. All age groups can spend a day of fun on the snow and competitions with attractive prizes. For more information, please click HERE.
