The main aim of the World Ski Awards is increasing standards in the ski industry and awarding organisations and resorts which are leaders in their fields. This year, Slovakia, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic have joined the contest for the first time. “We are very pleased that Jasná has become one of 24 top ski resorts in the world, the skiing Oscar is of great importance for us. We hope it will help Slovakia be perceived as a significant skiing destination that offers great conditions for winter sports. The Women´s Alpine Ski World Cup, which is very attractive for spectators, is coming back to Jasná in March 2016, after 32 years again. We are doing everything we can to put Slovakia back on the world map and become a sought-after skiing location and holiday destination,“ said Matej Hulej, the director of the ski resort Jasná Nízke Tatry.
The jury of the 3rd World Ski Awards was composed of professionals from the field of tourism, organisers, leaders of winter sports, tour operators, agencies, representatives of the media, visitors and skiers who were choosing their favourite resorts, mountain chalets and hotels. About 1.4 million online votes from all around the world were taken into consideration. The 24 top world ski destinations include: Kitzbühel in Austria, Thredbo in Australia, Niseko United in Japan, Mt. Hutt in New Zealand, YongPyong in South Korea, Grandvalira in Andorra, Bansko in Bulgaria, Skiareál Špindlerův Mlýn in the Czech Republic, Ruka in Finland, Val Thorens in France, Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, Val Gardena in Italy, Trysil in Norway, Czarna Góra in Poland, Rosa Khutor in Russia, Jasná Nízke Tatry in Slovakia, Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, Aramón Cerler in Spain, Åre in Sweden, Laax in Switzerland, Chapelco Ski Resort in Argentina, The Lake Louise Ski Resort in Canada, Portillo in Chile and Deer Valley Resort in the USA. Austrian Kitzbühel, where the prize giving ceremony took place last weekend, became the very best, i.e. the TOP ski resort of 2015. For more information, please visit www.worldskiawards.com.   
In April 2014, the ski resort of Jasná Nízke Tatry was given 5 prestigious quality awards at the ´Internationaler Skiareatest´ in Bolzano, Italy in the following categories: Breakthrough of the year 2014, The most popular mountain restaurant, Cable car operator of the year 2014, The best marketing and International mark of ski slope quality. And in November 2014, Jasná was awarded as “The Best up and coming resort“ at the World Snow Awards.
