“It is an honour for our resort. We consider it big prestige and a mark of quality in the field of providing services. This result reflects seven years of our tenacious effort in the mountain business and defines the level of individual services we provide. However, it is also a commitment to keep on improving the quality as the competition never sleeps. The Skiareatest label guarantees quality of provided services and shows the direction or way when deciding for our resort of Jasná,“ commented Sylvia Artzová, brand manager of Jasná Low Tatras.

Besides ´Internationaler skiareatest´ awarded in 15 categories for the summer and winter season, there was also a specialised exhibition called Alpinec, focused on technologies in ski resorts and ski clothing. The “Breakthrough of the year 2014” award given to Jasná Low Tatras is meant for ski resorts that have made significant investments in the development of the infrastructure, improvement of services or that have implemented interesting innovative ideas or projects in the field of mountain tourism within the given year. The Von Roll Restaurant Luková was ranked the most popular mountain restaurant, given a golden medal and awarded as the only mountain restaurant. This was mainly due to its original interior and overall atmosphere but also because of high quality of meals, wines and friendly staff. Bohuš Hlavatý, CEO of Tatry mountain resorts, a.s., was pronounced the “Person of the year” or “Cable car operator of 2014”. Ernst Brandstätter from Bergbahnen Flachau and Karl Schmidhofer from Murtal Seilbahnen Kreischberg were awarded in this category as well. The resort of Jasná Low Tatras was given a golden medal in the category of “The best marketing” along with resorts of Flachau and Wagrain. This category was focused on visual and content-based communication of resorts, good arrangement and visual attractiveness of resorts´ websites, availability of promotion materials for visitors and visibility of resorts on the European ski market. The last category that Jasná succeeded in was the International mark of ski slopes quality. Jasná Low Tatras was given 5.8 points from a maximum of 6. The category was focused on grooming of ski slopes, insurance, the navigation system and safety on the slopes. This quality label is valid for three years. It can be prolonged afterwards but the respective resort has to complete the test of quality again.

Internationaler skiareatest is a professional and objective international system of evaluating ski resorts. It has been active for nineteen years and has managed to develop a premium mark of quality and safety for awarded ski resorts. The system of evaluation is based on anonymous visits paid to individual resorts during the whole season. The evaluators fill in a specific form and are really strict about criteria in individual categories they assign points for. The points form the base of the “Gondie evaluation system“- a system that assigns the so called “Gondies” for points given during the whole season. 6 is the maximum number of Gondies one can get in every category.

Apart from Austrian and Italian resorts, there were only two non-alpine ones that took part in Skiareatest this winter – Jasná Low Tatras from Slovakia and Vogel from Slovenia.
