The afternoon of 19th August 2019 went down in the history of one of the oldest hotels in the High Tatras – Grandhotel**** Starý Smokovec to pay tribute to another eminent personality. Suite no. 205 was named after Lucie Bílá, a well-known singer, actress and holder of multiple prestigious awards. She admitted that she had had no idea what to expect when entering the hotel. “I felt like a child that is unwrapping a present under the Christmas tree. It is a nice feeling to imagine people coming here and being happy, satisfied. The idea is very nice. I appreciate it very much,” she said.

Lucie added that she had experienced a lot of unusual things while being a singer. But this moment was really special for her. “I have even signed a tractor once but never had my own suite. Now I do so I know where I can always return,” she laughed.
Suite no. 205, which has been named after the singer, contains not only her photos but also a present that she brought – her own platinum record. “The bedroom is always most important for me because we sleep and relax there. This one is really beautiful. Like in a fairytale. I feel like a princess here,” she said.

After the suite launching ceremony, the Czech diva planted a tree in front of the Grnadhotel. “In my life, I have done everything that a proper man should do. I have a son, have built a house and planted a tree. I appreciate trees very much, including those that I planted around my house,” she explained and added that she liked talking not only to trees but also to flowers at home. “I believe in such things. When my mum died, all flowers in my room died. Flowers are very perceptive.” And to help the tree in front of the hotel grow better, she put original plum brandy into the soil.

At the end, Lucie Bílá left a message for all future guests who might stay at the suite named after her.
“I wish them to enjoy nice weather when they come because they will be probably on holiday. I hope they will dream about something nice at night and if a girl should be born nine months later, I won´t mind her to be called Lucie,” she laughed.

Grandhotel**** Starý Smokovec, which is built in Art Nouveau style, was opened as one of the first big hotels in the Tatras in 1904 and has been opened ever since.
For over 100 years, it has welcomed thousands of guests, including various popular personalities who not only went down in the history of Czechoslovakia and Slovakia but also have become part of chronicles and the hotel history. To keep their spirits alive, the first three suites were dedicated to Vlasta Burian, the king of comedians, multiple Olympic winner Emil Zátopek and his wife Dana, also an Olympic winner, and to Emília Vášáryová, a charismatic Slovak actress one year ago. On the third Monday of August this year, the suite of Lucie Bílá “joined” the dedication family.
