The resort of Jasná with Mt. Chopok has been changing from a typical winter resort to an all-year one due to new attractions and investments made by TMR. The area of Chopok North was visited by 4% more clients this summer when compared to the previous year, the turnout in the area of Chopok South grew by 1%. More than 74,000 visitors came to enjoy the summer in Jasná and the Low Tatras. In terms of statistics, most of them were Slovaks (55%), Czech (23%) and Polish (14%). As for other countries (8%), there were mainly guests from Russia, the Baltic States, Germany and Hungary.

The High Tatras were popular with tourists from Slovakia (58%), the Czech Republic (22%) and Poland (12%) mainly. The turnout in Slovak grand mountains has grown by 8% when compared to the previous year. The High Tatras attracted more than 390,000 visitors this summer. The most significant increase in visitors´ numbers, when compared to the previous year, was recorded at the resort of Starý Smokovec. It was 15% mainly due to attractive events for families with children, cooperation with the Regional tourism organisation – the Region of the High Tatras and the town of Vysoké Tatry.

“The statistic numbers make us very happy but also remind us that we can´t rest on our laurels, that there is always something that needs to be improved for us as leaders in the field of tourism. Nowadays, it is in to spend a holiday in the Tatras and we are glad to meet this trend successfully. It is not only the chosen ones that the Tatras are available for. Not any more. Due to a wide spectrum of possibilities and attractive events all around the year, the Tatras and the region of Liptov deserve to be called destinations of the year 2013,“ said Bohuš Hlavatý, managing director of TMR.

The number of visitors coming to the Aquapark Tatralandia in the summer holidays increased by 4% when compared to the same period last year. Almost 300,000 people came to Tatralandia. The turnover was higher by 5% when compared to the previous year. This positive development was related to new attractions the aquapark opened the summer season with, such as the Gold Splash water catapult, a widened amphitheatre or a new “dry” attraction – a free fall simulator called Superfly Tatralandia. There were mainly the Polish
(45%), Slovaks (37%) and Czech (15%) who were enjoying salt water, tropical palms or water slides.

TMR hotel resorts evaluate the summer season very positively too. The occupancy rate was similar to the previous year. TMR hotels recorded a slight decrease in the number of guests but the average price was increased. Clients stayed for 3.1 days on average. The hotels focused on better quality services mainly. When compared to the previous year, a lower number of clients reached a higher profit due to optimisation of the revenue management.

Regular and loyal visitors coming to the High and Low Tatras are rewarded with lots of benefits. The GoPass loyalty card makes the holiday spent in the Tatras or the region of Liptov even more attractive. Clients collect points when shopping in mountain resorts, shops or staying at hotels, restaurants, in the aquapark and get better prices. There are about 20,000 people who have registered for the loyalty programme so far. In this summer season, clients could enjoy more than 50 benefits and discounts on cable cars in the Tatras, tickets for the aquapark Tatralandia, services in Tatry Motion shops and TMR restaurants.
