This ski season begins in Štrbské Pleso on three pistes. ”The Interski, Junior and Turistická pistes are going to be opened on Saturday, snowmaking continues on the others. Skiers can use our ski lifts and the Mostíky chairlift. Free ski busses will be operating from the central car park to the resort. The opening of the first pistes in Tatranská Lomnica is planned for 18th December, i.e. one week later,” informed Dušan Slavkovský, the general manager of the Vysoké Tatry resort. From 11th December, sledging fans can enjoy themselves in the Tatras too because the Hrebienok funicular will be operating and the 2.5km-long sledge track between Hrebienok and Starý Smokovec will be opened too. The Tatra Temple of Ice inspired by the idea of pilgrimage and the cathedral of Santiago de Compostella is opening in the same mode as the cableways do (for vaccinated, recovered individuals) with a limited capacity.
From this season, the stylish Horec suite complex located in the centre of Tatranská Lomnica near ski pistes has been added to the resort offer. In addition, skiers must count with parking charges including discounts for ski pass owners in Tatranská Lomnica.
The biggest ski resort in Slovakia – Jasná is opening the first pistes in the north of the mountain. “The Biela púť and Jelení grúň pistes plus the connection to Koliesko will be available. The chairlifts of Biela púť and Záhradky-Priehyba will be operating and so will the Twinliner funicular and the cable cars that link the northern and southern side with the top of Mt Chopok. Snowmaking continues on other pistes so that we can open them for skiers as soon as possible. On Sunday, the Luková chairlift and the blue pistes of Priehyba are going to be at disposal as well,” informed Jiří Trumpeš, the resort general manager.
New hits of this winter season in Jasná include the renewed SKI hotel located next to a ski piste, more cross-country skiing trails added in the area of Zadné vody and the marking on them, a new conveyor belt lift with a sledge track near the Pošta hotel, snowmaking system upgrade in Biela púť and last but not least – the piste of Petra Vlhová. The previous Pretekárska piste is named after the most successful skier of Slovakia from this season and there will be a special photo point to remind of it. In addition, there is a new parking concept and more free shuttle ski busses start to operate from the free car park in Pavčina Lehota on 27th December than in previous years.
All cable cars and lifts will be opened only for vaccinated and COVID-19 recovered passengers (VR mode), which will be checked by the staff when selling ski passes as well as at resort entrance points. The capacity of gondola cable cars will be reduced to 25%. Based on the currently valid rules, gastronomy is at disposal only as take-away. Hotels in Jasná and the High Tatras are opening on 25th December. For more details, please visit tmrhotels.com.
