Jasná Nízke Tatry

Facts

The Jasná Nízke Tatry resort is located in the Low Tatras mountain range, which stretches over more than 80 km across central Slovakia. Mt. Chopok is the second-highest peak of the Low Tatras and the most visited location in the mountain range, with its northern and southern slopes connected by cable cars.

Today, Jasná Nízke Tatry is the largest ski resort in Slovakia, offering 51 km of pistes. Skiers can enjoy all types of pistes on both sides of Mt. Chopok, from blue to black runs, suitable for beginners, families with children but also advanced skiers. A modern snowmaking system with 639 snowmaking points covers 43 km of pistes and guarantees snow for at least five months a year. Freeride enthusiasts will appreciate 12 freeride zones, a high-quality snow park and the Fun Zone. The summit of Mt. Chopok is accessible via state-of-the-art cable car systems, including a 24-person Funitel and 15-person gondolas. Night skiing is available on floodlit pistes with a total length of 4.3 km. In total, 20 cable cars and ski lifts operate on Mt. Chopok, with a transport capacity of up to 32,000 persons per hour. The winter season usually lasts from early December to the end of April. In the Zadné vody area, up to 5 km of cross-country trails are available on natural snow.

TMR also operates a wide range of gastronomy facilities within the Jasná Nízke Tatry resort. The Happy End Disco & Restaurant is particularly well known for its evening entertainment and live concerts. Visitors can also enjoy the Bernardino Burger Restaurant beneath Mt. Chopok, the stylish Von Roll Restaurant at Luková and the panoramic Rotunda restaurant at an altitude of 2,004 m a.s.l., featuring a large sunlit terrace. Numerous après-ski bars are located at lower cable car stations. The highest-located ski-in/ski-out Rotunda Hotel also serves as the boarding and disembarking station of the cable cars connecting the northern and southern slopes of the second-highest peak of the Low Tatras.

In addition to dining, the resort offers a wide range of sports services, including individual and group lessons with licensed instructors in the ski school and the Maxiland ski kindergarten. Sportswear and accessory shops, and equipment rentals operate under the Tatry Motion brand. The ski service provides professional ski and snowboard servicing using state-of-the-art machinery while you wait.

As the cable cars and lifts in Jasná operate all year round, there are numerous summer activities to choose from: hiking along the Low Tatras ridge, mountain cart rides, two fun marble tracks at Priehyba and the family game known as “The Adventure of the Wallachian Sheep” for younger visitors. The Chopok Panoramic Trail is a new summer attraction featuring several interactive and educational stops focusing on the history of hiking trail marking, the resort development, meteorology and an attractive photo point at the site of a former ski lift station.

Chopok north

The resort lies on 82 ha, the total length of snowmaking coverage is 24 km produced by 370 snow guns. In the 2012/13 winter season we launched two new cableways. Funitel, the 14th cableway of its kind in the world is hung on two ropes to withstand stronger wind better, and Twinliner that connects Chopok North and Chopok South. In the winter season 2013/14 a new six-seat cableway was added at Lúčky with the capacity of 2,460 persons per hour. It resulted in two new entry points to the resort.

Chopok south

The length of ski trails covered by snowmaking on the Chopok South is almost 10 km produced by 149 snow points. Given the usual high level of natural snow there is only minimum need for snowmaking. The ski area concentrates on free riders and those who prefer quieter slope. As part of the project of interconnecting both sides of Mt. Chopok, a new 15-person gondola, Kosodrevina – Chopok, was added in the winter season 2012/13, and a 15-person gondola at Krupová – Kosodrevina in the 2016/17 season.
