The ski season in Jasná and the High Tatras lasted 151 days. Although it was 6 days shorter than the previous year, the smartest skiers enjoyed the pistes to the fullest. And thus, records were broken again.
“We opened the season in Jasná and Štrbské Pleso on 2nd December and the last skiers travelled with cable cars on Wednesday 1st May 2024. Winter was a bit complicated as for the weather because higher temperatures prevailed from the end of January. However, thanks to the altitude and quality grooming of our pistes, we were able to save the ski season in higher locations in Slovakia for almost 5 months, which, considering the conditions, was probably a small miracle. But we pulled it off and people enjoyed it, so ultimately, we are satisfied and already preparing for the grand opening of the next season,” informed Igor Rattaj, the chairman of the board at TMR, a.s.
Interesting statistics data was presented by the Gopass portal like always after the end of the ski season in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland. Registered skiers once again broke records despite the season being shorter.
The king of skiers at Gopass
Igor from Nová Dubnica in Slovakia became the king of the 2023/24* ski season with 5,665 piste kilometres. In the absolute Gopass statistics, Jamil and Karel from the Czech Republic took second and third place, respectively, while the best Pole, Jaroslaw, finished fourth. All of them were season ski pass holders.
Legends
In the past season, skiers could reach different levels based on their completed piste kilometres – RIDER (20 km), RACER (50 km), CHAMPION (100 km), HERO (250 km), LEGEND (500 km). More than 500 km and the LEGEND title, along with an original sticker, were achieved by 1,644 skiers last season. All LEGENDS together completed an incredible number of 1,803,564 kilometres during the season, which is actually 45 times the circumference of the Earth.
New record in Jasná on Valentine’s Day
The most piste kilometres in one day were made by skiers in the ski resort of Jasná. On St. Valentine’s Day, i.e. on 14th February 2024, they completed 195,103 kilometres. This broke the record of the previous season by more than 3,000 kilometres. The High Tatras took second place in the statistics, with 85,066 kilometres made on 5th January. Špindlerův Mlýn was ranked third, with the record of 81,188 kilometres set on 20th January. By the way, 20th January was a record day also for Szczyrk (with 72,593 kilometres).
The most days on skis
The female skiing record holder with the highest number of days spent on skis comes from the Liptov region. Lýdia from Liptovský Mikuláš completed a total of 134 days in the 2023/24 season.
