Jasna (16. 1. 2025) The Jasná ski resort experienced another top-class event, this time it hosted the World Deaf Alpine Skiing Championships 2025.

Athletes from 12 countries competed for over eight days to become world champions. Slovak skiers also held their own at the event. Matúš Ďuriš placed 5th in the giant slalom and slalom and 7th in the parallel slalom and super-G. Dávid Pristač secured 4th place in the giant slalom, 5th in the combined event and 6th in super-G. Although Slovakia didn’t win any medals, the organisers and representatives of the deaflympic movement expressed great enthusiasm for the event.

“I’m incredibly proud that we could organise the World Deaf Alpine Skiing Championships 2025 here in Jasná. Despite challenging weather, we managed to carry out the demanding event with the help of our partners. All participants were thrilled and extremely satisfied with the services provided by the Ski Jasná Hotel, which went above and beyond to meet our needs. We hope that this successful cooperation can be repeated in the future,” said Milena Fabšičová, President of the Organising Committee and Secretary General of the Deaflympic Committee of Slovakia.
“We are delighted that our ski resort, known for hosting Alpine Skiing World Cup races, could offer a world-class environment to deaf athletes on our slopes. Our resort has supported sport and athletes for a long period, including those who face more challenges beyond competing itself. Providing free access to the pistes for eight full days was our contribution to the successful event. We believe the positive experiences of the participants will serve as a great showcase for Jasná, Slovakia and the organisers from the deaflympic movement,” said Jiří Trumpeš, the resort general manager.
