“We are very happy to offer this amusing event after last year´s successful premiere in Jasná again. Although it is not easy to handle the wooden sledges without any modern modifications, the racers don´t take it too seriously. Considering the eventful weekend programme, the competition participants as well as spectators could enjoy themselves to the fullest,” said Jana Kňavová, the brand manager of the Jasná resort.
The second Jasná Grand Prix begins with the opening ceremony on Friday 22nd February in Brezno. Racers can register along with their sledges, spectators can learn something about the history of the original wooden means of transport, a symbolic competition in folk costumes will be held on the square and followed by performances of folklore ensembles and folk bands. The “krňačky” race itself starts in the area of Kosodrevina at the altitude of 1,488 metres on Saturday 23rd February at high noon. The finish line is located in the area of Krupová at the altitude of 1,084 metres to welcome two-member male, female and mixed teams after the 2.3km -long race. The event programme will include folklore performances, traditional meals and contests with attractive prizes. The Veselí chlapci z Horehronia (Cheerful boys from the Horehronie region) band and the Krnohári male band will be there as well to create an original atmosphere. The event is organised by the Tatry mountain resorts, a. s. company, in cooperation with the Regional tourism organisation – REGIÓN HOREHRONIE.
The resort of Jasná is happy to offer not only the international historic sledge race but also TOP skiing adventures on over 50 km of groomed pistes. There is 64 cm of snow on average at the moment, with extra portion for freeride lovers on the southern side of Mt Chopok. Special spring skiing ski passes are now available at EUR 19 via GOPASS 30 days in advance.
