The summer in the mountain resorts of Tatranská Lomnica, Starý Smokovec and Štrbské Pleso will be not only about hiking but also cableway trips with beautiful panoramic views of valleys. Families with children can look forward to the Tatra Wilderness project with adventurous weekends that begin on Saturday 30th June. Every Friday in the summer between 12:00 and 15:00, kids can listen to interesting stories about the Tatras, observe animals and discover plants in the area of Skalnaté pleso (tarn) with a park ranger. Saturdays will be the days of unique Chamois Olympics, competitions with attractive prizes, animators and Tatra mascots. A wooden eco mini park and the indoor park of the Chamois Land at Skalnaté Pleso offer a great amusement alternative for children after a hiking trip or a walk in the area. Creative workshops about Tatra fairytales and legends will be offered on Sundays. Please read more HERE.
Those who want to take a shortcut when returning from a hiking trip are welcome at the interchange station of Štart, where comfortable motorless three-wheelers – mountain carts are available. Adventurous downhill on a 2.8km-long track to Tatranská Lomnica is safe even for absolute beginners. A mini fun park with a mini train, a trampoline and archery is at disposal for children at the funicular station in Starý Smokovec and so is adrenalin summer tubing in Hrebienok.
After a successful winter, local Tatra people and providers of tourism services are expecting a successful summer season too and hope, along with mountain resorts operators, that holidayers will enjoy great weather. Hotel guests can treat themselves to non-traditional evening events such as Dinner under the stars and 75 secrets of a cable car. As for other events, the International children´s violin orchestra will be playing at Skalnaté Pleso (14/7), a Venetian night will be held on the tarn of Štrbské pleso (14/7) and the popular Bear Days in Hrebienok (1-4/8) with Marmots at Pleso (25/8) cannot be missing either. Please read more on www.vt.sk or www.regiontatry.sk.
The Grandhotel in Starý Smokovec will offer completely refurbished rooms, suites, halls, the Hoepfner hall and Hossein lounge from 1st July. After a three-month-long renovation, the historic Grandhotel will present itself with a new design. The Hrebienok Restaurant will be modernised as well and made bigger – in two phases. The cosy and sunlit interior will be panelled with wood and the walls will be covered with bear-themed wallpaper. The Panorama restaurant at Skalnaté Pleso and the restaurant as well as the terrace of the FIS Hotel in Štrbské Pleso will be renewed and expanded in autumn too.
