Although great snow conditions and a successful opening of the ski season in the Tatras have been stopped by a wind calamity for a short time, the resorts have “recovered”, the calamity consequences have been eliminated and the affected ski piste sections operate again. As for Mt. Chopok, ski pistes along the main cableway routes are opened, i.e. Biela Púť – Priehyba – Mt. Chopok in the north and Mt. Chopok – Kosodrevina – Krupová in the south. Temperatures are expected to drop considerably in the next few days, more snow should be made and more slopes should be opened so that skiers could enjoy all ski pistes during Christmas holidays. On the northern side of Mt. Chopok, chairlifts in the areas of Lúčky and Záhradky, i.e. Lúčky – Vyhliadka and Záhradky – Rovná Hoľa will operate from tomorrow during the day as well and so will the piste of Turistická with very good snow conditions. Once more snow is made in the course of next week, the piste of FIS will be opened, too and from 23rd December, the chairlift of Záhradky – Priehyba, the Grand Jet cable car between Biela Púť and Brhliská, the connection ski lift of Otupné and piste no. 7 called Majstrovská will join them. On the southern side of Mt. Chopok, cable cars between Mt. Chopok ad the area of Krupová are opened, the ski lift of Lúčka and the 4-seater chairlift of Srdiečko – Kosodrevina will begin to operate on 26th December, the ski lift of Krupová II. will join them on 28th December. Pistes no. 31 Slnečná and no. 36 Krupová will be opened from this weekend, piste no. 31a Tréningová on 27th December. Piste no. 35 called Derešská, which is covered only with natural snow, is already being used for skiing these days. Maintenance has been completed on the chairlift of Solisko Expres in Štrbské Pleso, which will be opened from Friday along with other ski pistes, chairlifts and ski lifts. This means the whole resort of Štrbské Pleso will be operating from 15th December. All pistes, i.e. Interski, Solisko, Furkota, Turistická, Esíčko, Junior will be opened. Skiers can enjoy 9km of easy to medium difficult pistes and from 28th December, Fresh Track with a professional guide will be available on Mt. Solisko before the cableways begin to operate officially. This unique product is meant for good skiers who enjoy carving on morning “corduroy”.
The ski resort of Tatranská Lomnica offers the pistes of Lomnické sedlo, Generál, Čučoriedky východ, Čučoriedky západ, Štart západ and Esíčka these days, more kilometres, i.e. the pistes of Štart východ, Grand slnečná, Javorová cesta will join them from Saturday 16th December. Snow is being made in the area of Bukova hora. Depending on the snow conditions, the pistes in Bukova hora could be opened in the next few weeks. Night sledging is available in Starý Smokovec every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, the piste of Jakubkova lúka will be opened for skiing from Christmas.
