As the pandemic development is quite positive, the restrictions have been loosened and snow conditions are good, the ski resorts of Štrbské Pleso and Jasná are reopening from 22nd April 2021. “There is several important information for skiers. More lifts and points to enter the Jasná and Štrbské Pleso resorts have been added to the original reopening plan to spread the skiers more and to guarantee more comfort. The resorts will be opened also next week – the lifts will be operating based on the snow conditions and the interest of skiers who shouldn’t forget to bring their negative COVID-19 antigen or RT-PCR tests that must be presented in the resort and can be taken no more than 48 hours prior to the arrival, which is a change when compared to the original COVID-traffic light system information. This obligation does not apply to children under 10 years,“ informed Matej Hulej, TMR sales and marketing manager in Slovakia.
Only chairlifts on the northern side will be operating in Jasná from 22.4. to 25.4. In addition to the announced ones: 4-seater chairlift Biela Púť, 4-seater chairlift Koliesko – Luková and 2-seater chairlift Rovná Hoľa – Konský Grúň, also the 6-seater chairlifts Lúčky – Vyhliadka and Záhradky – Rovná hoľa are going to be opened. From Monday 26.4., the operation will depend on the interest of skiers and the snow conditions.
As for Štrbské Pleso in the High Tatras, the Solisko Express chairlift is going to be opened together with the Furkota chairlift and the Junior lift for children. The ski resort of Tatranská Lomnica is closed. Morning fresh track is going to be available in the resorts on selected days too. From Monday 26.4., the lifts will be operating based on the interest of skiers and the snow conditions.
The client centres in Jasná – in Biela púť, Záhradky and Lúčky, and the client centre under the ski jumps in Štrbské Pleso are going to be opened as well.
The Tatra Temple of Ice in Hrebienok in the High Tatras is reopening too. “We are reopening on 22.4., with strict precautions respected, including a limited capacity. The unique masterpiece of 225 tonnes of ice in Hrebienok represents the Church of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ of St. Petersburg,” added Lukáš Brodanský, the manager of the Vysoké Tatry resort. The Hrebienok funicular is going to operate as well.
The updated list of all opened COVID-19 testing sites in Štrbské Pleso and at the beginning of Demänovská dolina (valley) is published on the resort websites: jasna.sk and vt.sk.
In the High Tatras, the FIS hotel in Štrbské Pleso is going to be opened from Wednesday 21.4.2021, the Pošta hotel in Jasná and mountain Chalets Jasná Collection are going to open on the same day as well. Attractive hotel packages with ski passes included will be available too. Every hotel guest must present a negative COVID-19 antigen or RT-PCR test taken less than 72 hours before, which does not apply to children under 10 years. The hotel establishments and ski resorts will offer their services with all current pandemic restrictions and precautions respected.
The ski pistes are still at disposal for ski tourers who have to follow all current resort rules. Ski touring trails in the nature of the Tatra National Park in the High Tatras are officially closed from 15th April, as for the Tatra National Park Low Tatras, marked trails on Mt Chopok are available until 30th April.
