Last weekend was full of action on Mt. Chopok. Despite bad weather, about 200 people met at the lower station of the Funitel cable car – Priehyba, grabbed sharp pencils and wrote messages to their friends, relatives, future generations or even themselves. These messages are supposed to stay in beautiful Tatra nature for 20 years. The unique time capsule project represents the idea that man´s thoughts survive in time like nature does. Visitors were enjoying a great Saturday with the popular figure of Tatranec and his humour or various children´s dance ensembles and theatre performances. The area below Mt. Chopok was thus full of fun and grilled delicacies.
The time capsule was getting full with envelopes and messages. People wished to be healthy, young at heart and beautiful on the inside or to find what they had been looking for. The space travellers invited by Tatranec accompanied the time capsule to the very peak of Mt. Chopok so that others who haven´t put their messages inside yet could do so within a couple of months. “We have been travelling through space and time for 20 years and have stopped in this beautiful nature of the Low Tatras, where everybody can influence his or her future,“ said one of the astronauts.
Official envelopes with a pencil and a badge that will enable its holder to read his or her message in the future can be found at the Information centre of Biela púť at the resort of Jasná. The chance to leave something behind in the time capsule at the upper station of the Funitel cable car lasts until 30th November 2013 only. It shall be sealed then, with a unique cover containing a dragon symbol that represents indestructibility in time. The Deminan dragon has been the symbol of the area of Demänovská Dolina and a silent but watchful guardian of all its secrets from of old.
