The time of skiers has finally come! The biggest Slovak ski resort is opening the upper ski piste section on the northern side of Mt Chopok on 31st December. “We are very happy to finally offer a continuous ski line from the top of Mt Chopok along the pistes of Pretekárska Chopok – Konský grúň (1c) and Konský grúň – Luková (1b) and from there down to individual resort entrance points. These days, we are working hard to open the Zjazdárska piste (no.33) on the southern side. Snow groomers secured by ropes are distributing piles of artificial snow and we are doing our best to open the piste no later than on 2nd January. As nature has been helping us with snow for the past three days, the conditions are improving every single day,” informed Jana Kňavová, the manager of the Jasná resort. From 31.12.2020, night skiing is going to be available on the Biela Púť piste in Jasná every day from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
The turn of the years promises opening of more pistes in the High Tatras as well. “Although strong wind has made the situation more complicated for the past hours, we could prepare the Solisko piste in Štrbské Pleso and open it on Wednesday (30.12.). We are now working on the Generál piste between Skalnaté pleso and Čučoriedky and would like to open it on the first day of the New Year, i.e. on 1st January,“ informed Lukáš Brodanský, the manager of the Vysoké Tatry resort. For New Year´s Eve, extra sports activities are planned in the High Tatras: night skiing in Štrbské Pleso from 7:00pm to 11:00pm, night sledging on the lit track of Hrebienok at the same time. Families with small kids can enjoy fun in Tatranská Lomnica while sliding on the piste next to the lower cable car station in the evening.
The latest updates from the Jasná and Vysoké Tatry ski resorts, including interactive maps with a basic overview of opened cableways, pistes and other interesting information are available also in the new free GOPASS mobile app, which can be downloaded in the App Store and Google Play.
