The resort plans to use upcoming cold, freezing weeks to make snow, groom and open more pistes on both sides of the mountain. The winter season is going to be launched in Jasná on Friday 30th November with a traditional regional event – a meeting of local Liptov and Horehronie people on top of Mt. Chopok at 10:00am. A special programme is prepared to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia, with well-known personalities that are closely connected with sport and the history of skiing in the region of Liptov. Photos of Alojz Lutonský – the pioneer of tourism in the Tatras will be displayed on this occasion as well. The cableways will be operating only for walking passengers on Friday. The Crystal bar in the area of Biela Púť will be hosting “Sit Down stories” – a talk show of Veronika Cifrová Ostrihoňová and her guests in the evening. Amusing dialogues with Czech actress Anna Polívková, entertainer Samo Trnka and singer Robo Papp are scheduled for 8:00pm.
Saturday 1st December will be not only about the first skiing adventures of this season but also the best aprés-ski dance party on the snow in the area of Priehyba – at the popular Demänovka Ratrak stage. Great fun with competitions and games will be offered in the so called Demänovka tent from 10:00am to 3:00pm. OOCR Región Liptov (regional tourism organisation) has promised attractive activities such as bandits of Liptov and their performance, tasting of typical regional cheese products and other local delicacies. The highlight of the day begins in the Happy End club on 9:00pm. The legendary Winter Jasná Opening has a special “Funky bashavel edition” this year. The evening starts with a concert of one of the best and most popular Slovak funky bands – Funkiez. A charismatic DJ duo – Jakub and Roman, who have been known as MALALATA for ten years and present an original fusion of Balkan beats, gypsy beats, cumbie and reggae, will be there to spice up the atmosphere. True DJ elite, i.e. DJ EKG, DJ MIKIAS, DJ JUST DAVE and PABLIK DJ will guarantee a genuine explosion of rhythms on the dance floor that will be emphasised by attractive dancers in spectacular costumes. Please read more about the Winter Jasná Opening on www.jasna.sk.
Resorts in the High Tatras cannot wait to open the ski season too. Štrbské Pleso could begin with skiing in a week, on Friday 7th December. The pistes of Interski, Turistická and Junior are the first to be covered with man-made snow if temperatures are low enough. Regular autumn cableway maintenance is in progress at the resort of Tatranská Lomnica until 7th December. All cable cars and chairlifts are out of service but snow is made on the slopes between Skalnaté Pleso and Tatranská Lomnica these days. The resort is going to be opened on Saturday 8th December and if some of the pistes are ready and groomed until then, there is a good chance they will be available for skiing too. The official SKI EXCLUSIVE Opening of the season in Tatranská Lomnica is scheduled for 15th December. For more details, please visit www.vt.sk.
A modern ski pass selling system via www.gopass.sk, which is similar to that of flight tickets, is the biggest hit of the season. Ski pass prices are not fixed anymore but displayed dynamically online based on the number of sold tickets and the number of clients at individual resorts on given days. This means they are changing constantly, will be higher in the busiest periods and lower when there are not as many clients at resorts.
