On Wednesday night, snow guns started to operate in Tatranská Lomnica in the High Tatras at altitudes from 1,751 metres, i.e. Skalnaté Pleso to about 1,400 metres, i.e. the piste of Esíčka. The air temperature fell down to -5 °C. Snow was produced by 24 snow guns. The resort plans to continue with the snowmaking process on the following days depending on the temperatures.

Snowmaking has begun in Jasná, on the southern side of Mt. Chopok between the summit and the area of Kosodrevina, i.e. between the altitudes of 2,004 metres and 1,500 metres today early in the morning. 30 snow guns are operating at the moment. Temperatures on Mt. Chopok have fallen down to -6/-4°C but are expected to go up during the day so the resort plans to continue with the snowmaking process once the temperatures are below zero again. Snow guns on the northern side of Mt. Chopok should start to operate today in the evening so that both sides of the mountain can be covered with man-made snow. Snowmaking at lower altitudes of the northern side under the piste of Luková, i.e. from 1,670 metres down is scheduled for Saturday night. The snow storage or the so called natural fridge which is located in the area of Biela Púť and where about 60 – 65% of last year´s snow has been preserved successfully shall be uncovered tomorrow. The 8-metre-high pile of snow should be distributed on the piste around 25th November.

Štrbské Pleso plans to begin with the snowmaking process on Friday. Based on the temperatures, the resort wants to decide whether to start at the lower sections or on Mt. Solisko at the altitude of 1,840 metres.

Regular autumn cableway maintenance is still in progress in the ski resorts and the cableways do not operate. Cableways at Jasná, Štrbské Pleso and Tatranská Lomnica are opened only at weekends these days. Please read more about Jasná HERE and about the High Tatras HERE.

The new modern online ski pass sale which is similar to the flight ticket selling system begins on www.gopass.sk on 19th November. Skiers will have the chance to buy their passes at the best prices. The first 10,000 ski passes are going to be offered online at 9 EUR from Monday.
