“Snow is being made on top of Mt Chopok, in the northern section. We have begun this morning and want to continue until tomorrow. At the moment, the temperature on Mt Chopok is -6°C, which has enabled us to use the snowmaking system at full power,” said Martin Kupčo, the chief of the ski piste and snowmaking staff in Jasná. There is 50 – 150 cm of snow on the main pistes currently.
The temperature drop and active snowmaking should ensure enough snow to guarantee top-quality spring skiing adventures in Jasná at least until Easter and a longer season for all Smart Season Pass holders.
While the Low Tatras have been lucky to use snowmaking guns, nature has been much more generous in the High Tatras – 20 cm of snow has fallen in Štrbské Pleso in the course of the last 24 hours and Lomnické sedlo is happy about 20-40 cm of new snow. This means that resorts in the High Tatras are going to enjoy fabulous Easter skiing fun too.
