The surface of the most popular tarn will be “unlocked” on Friday so that visitors can enjoy the 6th boating season on magic waters of Štrbské pleso already. There will be 19 stylish rowing boats and one double kayak at disposal. To make the experience more special, visitors can even use the service of a private rower. The boating tradition on the surface of the moraine tarn is more than 130 years old. 3,754 boats made their journey on the tarn in the year 2012, which makes 14,650 boats and 43,960 people since the reopening in 2008 in total. Boating at the altitude of 1,350 m is one of the most popular attractions in the High Tatras. The tarn of Štrbské pleso is located in the 5th level of protection and all activities related to it, including the boating must follow strict rules. The hours of operation start at 9:00 and finish at 17:00. The resort of Jasná operates all year round and its top-class cableways are worth visiting in the summer too. There are various attractive events prepared for summer months. Tourists can take the automated Twinliner funicular to get to the Chopok – Priehyba station easily and in all comfort and from there take a Funitel cable car to get to the summit of Mt. Besides beautiful panorama views of the surrounding scenery, visitors can make their holiday more adventurous on bikes. The Giant Bike Park is located in the area of Záhradky and uses natural terrain combined with various modifications. There are special opening prices prepared for the opening weekend of 15th – 16th June 2013 and fans of this attractive sport can enjoy 15 km of routes of various levels of difficulty – for beginners or professionals. In July and August, bikes and scooters are transported uphill with a 6-seater chairlift from the lower station at Záhradky to the upper station at Priehyba B2 and from Záhradky to Rovná Hoľa B1. Despite restraints caused by construction works at cable cars of Mt. Chopok, there were more than one thousand bikers frolicking at the Bike Park last season. The Giant Bike Park at Jasná will host a TOP competition this year – Slovak MTB Downhill Championships (19. – 21. 7. 2013), with more than 300 bikers expected on a changed track with better uphill transport capacities of two cable cars.
