Vysoké Tatry / Jasná 12th April 2022 Easter skiing, sledging, hiking and swimming in water parks. These are some of the forms of this year’s Easter in Slovakia after two years when Covid restrictions didn’t favour Easter holidays.
Slovak mountain resorts still offer great spring skiing adventures. “There is more than 60 cm of snow on our opened pistes so all age groups can not only relax in Jasná during the holidays but also sunbath while skiing and enjoy an interesting programme,” said Jiří Trumpeš, the resort general manager.
In the High Tatras, the pistes in Štrbské Pleso and Tatranská Lomnica are still opened. “This year, the snow conditions are exceptionally good and long-lasting, there is a lot of snow in Lomnické sedlo, the piste that runs to Tatranská Lomnica is still ok for skiing. This can change, of course, because higher temperatures are predicted for next days, but I think those who want to ski, can enjoy themselves quite a lot,” informed Dušan Slavkovský, the general manager of the Vysoké Tatry resort. The Tatra Temple of Ice in Hrebienok in the High Tatras is going to be opened only until 19th April. The unique creation of 225 tonnes of ice is inspired by the theme of pilgrimage and the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The temple is free of charge for everybody and a comfortable funicular operates between Starý Smokovec and Hrebienok.
Based on bookings in the TMR hotels chain in the Tatras, it is clear that people are interested in Easter holidays. “I think it feels great for everybody to stay in the mountains after two years of, so to say, fasting and to enjoy a hotel that can finally offer all its services that clients were used to before Covid,” added Dušan Slavkovský. Among other things, the high hotel occupancy rate is the result of an attractive benefit – cableway tickets and water park tickets included every day for all clients staying at TMR hotels.
