“CGC Jasná Adrenalin has moved to a higher level this year. Mt. Chopok offers very good slopes and terrain for freeride, even the Austrians envy us. Getting 4 stars required years of hard work to prove that we are able to manage the organisation and guarantee safety for this adrenaline sport. The race in Jasná has a good reputation in the world and the registration list just proves it. We have athletes registered who participate in FWT, which is the highest freeride league in the world,“ said Matej Hulej, the race director.
The so called “face check” or terrain checking will be performed on Friday 27th February. All racers must be there for the “face check”. As they cannot have a trial round in the terrain, they watch the members of the organising team ride the slopes and draw upon their reports about the snow quality and structure in individual sections of the track. This is important information for them as the snow can be different in the middle of the gully when compared to its edges, which can have crucial influence on the line the racers choose to ride down the slope. The “face check“ is planned for one whole day. Shall the weather forecast for the following days be very bad, the race is going to start on Friday and the „face check“ must be shortened to two hours. According to the World Freeride Qualifier rules, there have to be three reserve days in case the weather changes for the worse. The start line will be located next to the upper station of the Funitel cable car, in the so called “Sedielko” (small saddle) under the top of Mt. Chopok. The track will surmount a vertical drop of 400 metres, the average slope inclination will reach 35-50 degrees. 11 women and 20 men in the category of Snowboard, and 33 men and 16 women in the category of Ski freeride will be trying to get valuable points to qualify for FWT. Baša Števulová and Marek Gazda will be representing Slovakia in snowboarding, Peter Neumann, Ján Tajbos and Katarína Lehotská will be competing in the Ski freeride category.
The ski resort of Jasná will be enjoying a great freeride atmosphere during the whole weekend. A freeride village will be built next to the Happy End music club again and all visitors will have a chance to try professional freeride equipment there, watch demonstrations of skiing in freeride terrain or take part in entertaining sledging or fun tools races. There will also be a special freeride Fashion Show with latest freeride fashion trends. Those who want to watch the outstanding performances in powder snow, have a great view of the racers and enjoy the unforgettable atmosphere of an adrenaline race can do so in the Public Arena, which will be available at the upper station of the Rovná Hoľa chairlift on the slope of Konský Grúň. Once the race is finished, evaluated and the final ceremony at Happy End is completed, there will be a great after party with a famous Slovak hip-hop band – Kontrafakt.
CGC Jasná Adrenalin is the sixth race of the first – highest category of the Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ) with 4 stars, which is organised according to the rules of extreme skiing competitions. The final race of the FWT 2015 series takes place in Verbier, Switzerland on 27th March 2015. The race in Jasná is organised by the Slovak Association of Freeride Skiers (SAFL), which was established in 2002 with the aim to unite people who are interested in freeride skiing. It organises the Jasná Adrenalin race every year and helps create conditions for this sport in Slovakia. __________________________________________________________________________________
