Jasná packed with adrenalin – top freeriders from all around the world are heading for Mt Chopok

Jasna Adrenalin is part of the Freeride World Tour qualification. After the last three years had to be cancelled in Jasná, 2022 got a special bonus in the form of the finals. This means that the most successful riders from Jasná will join the absolute world elite and take part in the Freeride World Tour (FWT). “Only the best riders who have a chance to qualify will come. And we will also see 6 riders from FWT who will try to collect some points to remain among FWT, i.e. the cream of the freeride society,” informed Tomáš Semančík, the event co-organiser.

Jasna Adrenalin is held in the freeride terrain on the northern side of Mt Chopok. “The first freeride race was organised here already in 2002. Since then, the level of the race has gone up considerably thanks to the organisers in cooperation with the Jasná ski resort. Top hospitality, one of the best accessible slopes of the whole tour, quality terrain. All this meets the highest standards,” said Matej Hulej, a member of the organising committee and of the jury. These words were proven also by the fact that the Jasna Adrenalin race received the highest Freeride World Qualifier ranking in 2015, i.e. 4 stars of 4, which motivates the top freeride elite to come to Jasná. “We are very happy that the Jasná resort does not only have a good reputation among Alpine Skiing World Cup organisers, but we can be confident to say that Jasná Adrenalin is one of the best organised freeride races in the world,” said Jiří Trumpeš, the resort general manager.

The Jasna Adrenalin event consists of 4 days. Before the race, the terrain must be checked by mountain rescuers who test the slopes, avalanche profiles and assess the safety. During the race itself, skiers and snowboarders start in turns. “To make the race more attractive, there will be live streaming with commentary as well as live judging – members of the jury will have two minutes after each ride to award points. This innovation will be difficult for the judges but very attractive for riders and spectators,” added Ladislav Mrava, the Jasna Adrenalin director. Members of the jury will be judging how individual racers control their skis, the fluidity of their rides, their style, the number and length of their jumps, the style of their turns and tricks, and the difficulty level and the creativity of their chosen lines.

The aim is not only the prize money in the amount of EUR 10,000 but mainly collecting points and advancing to the Freeride World Tour. The organisers of the event that 65 racers from all around the world will take part in will have 2 wild cards at disposal – one has been given to talented Ján Tajboš from Slovakia, the other one to Pavel Božák from the Czech Republic.
