High Tatras/Jasná (27th November 2024) The 2024/25 ski season introduces a significant change in Slovakia’s two largest ski resorts. Ski touring on the pistes at Jasná and the Vysoké Tatry resort will now require payment.
Ascending pistes has become a popular trend in recent years. Skiers equipped with ski touring gear who climb groomed and snow-covered slopes to ski back down do not contribute to the grooming costs of resorts in the same way as traditional skiers with ski passes do. In addition, the growing popularity of this activity and frequent disregard for piste rules pose risks to other skiers. Some ski resorts around the world have banned ski touring outright, while others regulate it by introducing fees. Jasná and Vysoké Tatry have now adopted a similar approach. “This is a basic form of regulation and a way for ski tourers to contribute to the maintenance of the pistes, at least partially. Maintenance costs us millions of euros every year and it’s not fair for other skiers to subsidise the ski touring hobby over and over again, especially when snow conditions often prevent it outside groomed pistes. Thanks to snowmaking and daily maintenance, we can significantly extend the season for enthusiasts of this sport, which is why they must also contribute,” said Igor Rattaj, Chairman of the Board of TMR.
A basic 1-day ski touring ticket valid on the pistes of Jasná and the Vysoké Tatry resort will cost €7 online at gopass.travel and also offline in the resorts. Online purchases come with the added benefit of a parking discount*, similar to other online ski pass purchases. Ski touring fans can also opt for a seasonal pass costing €99, which is available exclusively online at gopass.travel. Ski Touring Season Pass holders will have access to marked routes on the pistes during the opening times and can enjoy the following benefits: a parking discount* and 15% goX cashback on food and drinks at TMR establishments in Jasná and Tatranská Lomnica. Mountain Rescue Service insurance coverage is included in every Ski Touring Ticket and Ski Touring Season Pass while using the services. Ski touring on the pistes is free for holders of valid ski passes on the day of their ski pass validity and also for holders of GOPASS SKI Season Passes, GOPASS SKI FLEXI Season Passes and GOPASS SKI Season Passes with 365.bank accounts. Compliance with ski touring rules and ski touring ticket/season pass payment verifications will be monitored by ski patrols in the field and via other control mechanisms.
Ski touring is permitted only on designated ski touring runs and exclusively during the resort opening times. Touring on pistes outside of the opening times is prohibited.
Ski touring starting points on pistes:
Jasná – Lúčky, Biela Púť, Krupová, Srdiečko,
Tatranská Lomnica – lower cable car station/cascading car park,
Štrbské Pleso – Esíčko.
Evening ski touring is allowed only on selected pistes and along the following ski runs: Štrbské Pleso – Solisko (daily 8:30 am – 8:00 pm), Jasná – Chaletová (during night skiing 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm).
All ski tourers passing through marked checkpoints can participate in the Skialp Challenge, i.e. measure and compare their times to win attractive prizes such as a Gopass SKI Season Pass, a Fresh Track experience for two, 1-day ski passes and cable car tickets valid in Jasná and the High Tatras.
