Štrbské Pleso is about to welcome highly renowned racers such as Alessandro Boyens from Germany, three-time Snowboard Fest champion, Aljosa Krivec from Slovenia, last year´s champion, and many world cup contestants from Norway, Sweden, Finland or Switzerland. The organisers promise a rich programme, the best world-class snowboarding with a record-breaking and top-quality participation, a great warm-up party, an attractive drum show and the best jumps ever. “We are expecting about 40 racers even from countries more distant than Poland, Austria, Slovenia, Germany or the Czech Republic. It will be really difficult to get among top ten finalists or win as we have never had so many excellent professionals at the Snowboard Fest before. It will be really attractive to watch. As for Slovak racers, it is Matej Matys, who has most chances to succeed. This year´s race is really special since there will be a rich 2-day programme and lots of fun prepared for all spectators on the slope of Interski. Besides world-class snowboarding and competitions on Friday, a unique project will be introduced in Slovak mountains for the first time – the so called Red Bull Silent Disco. People will put headphones on, choose the music they like and enjoy it without frightening animals in the area,“ said Jozef Murín, chief of the organising committee.

He went on saying that a mass of snow which was necessary for a world cup big jump could be made in spite of relatively high temperatures thanks to cooperation with the ski resort of Štrbské Pleso. The first part of the programme begins on Friday at 12:00 and the official training at 18:00. Saturday´s qualification starts at 14:30, the semi-finals at 16:30 and the finals at 18.00. The Snowboard Fest is quite an experience itself but offers also a rich accompanying programme and sports activities for children aged 3 to 10 – the called Snowboard Fest Young Stars. The smallest ones can learn snowboard basics with professional instructors. The event is free of charge for all spectators.
