Summer in Slovakia – waterside holidays with the Tatras round the corner

A journey for water adventures doesn’t always mean a trip to the sea. Slovakia offers sea waves, saltwater, thermal water, diving and rafting. The proximity of the High and Low Tatras along with excellent hiking opportunities is a significant bonus of summer relaxation in the Bešeňová and Tatralandia water parks. And the accommodation offer via Gopass, which includes access to water parks and cable car tickets valid in Jasná and the High Tatras included in accommodation packages, is even more attractive.

The summer season began in the Bešeňová and Tatralandia water parks on Saturday 22nd June. Year-round as well as summer sections with the biggest attractions are now open. The mountain resorts of Jasná and Vysoké Tatry have their cable cars operating daily, with other attractions available as well. What’s more, the summer in water parks and mountain resorts will feature numerous events. “Summer should primarily be about holidays and experiences. In our resorts in the Liptov region and the High Tatras, we can offer such benefits that everyone, regardless of age or weather, can enjoy themselves while staying with us. That’s the goal. To ensure that if a guest chooses a holiday in the mountains or a water park, they never feel bored and have a holiday that they’d happily repeat, perhaps even in winter,” said Igor Rattaj, the Chairman of the Board at TMR, a.s.

Adrenalin on water slides – cooling off even on the hottest days (tatralandia.sk)

Water – fresh, saline, thermal. Visitors to the largest water parks in Liptov can choose which of the three types of water will refresh them the most. Tatralandia offers an incredible number of 28 slides, including a tower with MEGA slides – Delphin and 4family, similar to those found in Dubai and Tenerife.

It takes courage to slide down with massive rafts from a height equivalent to a seven-storey building. Kids will love the Funny Runny inflatable obstacle course in the year-round freshwater Ocean Pool. The ZOO Kontakt family park is an enjoyable addition for Tatralandia visitors, who can admire not only animals but also miniatures of famous world buildings. Adrenaline lovers can try the only wind tunnel in the Hurricane Factory.

One can also refresh themselves in the freshwater Wild River, jump into the water from the inflatable Bubble or sunbathe on a raft on a 220-metre-long rafting course. The 30-metre-high water slide tower in the Bešeňová water park guarantees a lot of fun, with a total slide length of over 1 km, including the longest slide in Slovakia.

Cooling off in the mountains. An excellent idea for hiking enthusiasts who know that mountains are a great escape from hot city streets. Mt Chopok can be reached with modern cable cars from the regions of Liptov and Horehronie. At Priehyba, visitors can learn more about traditional sheep farming, walk along an educational trail there and let their kids play a unique marble game. On top of Mt Chopok, the stylish Rotunda is ideal not only to cool down but also to enjoy great food and endless views in all directions. From Mt Chopok, tourists can choose comfortable ridge hikes with stunning views, including the panorama of the High Tatras.

Boating in the Tatras? Yes, that’s right. The visit to the highest mountains of our neighbours can start at Štrbské pleso (tarn), where the tradition of boating with the most beautiful views of the Tatra panoramas was renewed years ago. And what about the Tatra peaks? Just choose. A comfortable cable car ride from Skalnaté Pleso to Mt Lomnický štít (2,634 m), a ride with the highest-located chairlift in Slovakia to Lomnické sedlo (saddle, 2,190 m) and a popular hike to Mt Predné Solisko (2,117 m), dominated by a large wooden cross. Hrebienok is an ideal destination for family trips with its Zone of Pleasure – an exhibition of wooden sculptures and educational boards complemented by comfortable loungers. A beautiful place with amazing views in all directions, perfect for a family album selfie.
