The Tatralandia water park has just launched its latest attraction. It enters the summer season with two brand-new giant water slides.
The slides have been added to the existing slide tower, which is as tall as a five-storey building (17.2 metres). The construction of the two new slides began in October 2024, they were approved in mid-June and officially opened on Saturday, 28th June.
The first slide is called Duo Race and is a Racer-type slide. In practice, this means two equally long water slide tracks that allow visitors to race against each other. The slides are 2 x 179 metres long and visitors can reach speeds of up to 35.6 kilometres per hour.
The second slide is called Flamingo and is a Hydroriver-type slide, 187 metres long. Visitors can reach speeds of up to 44 kilometres per hour on the slide and experience a unique sensation of weightlessness, similar to a rollercoaster ride.
This new dual-slide attraction offers raft rides, with a dedicated lift transporting the rafts to the top of the tower.
“We’re delighted that, after seven long years, we can once again introduce new slides to our visitors. Slides and water attractions are a popular adrenaline-filled draw for whole families, and with these new additions, Tatralandia now offers a total of 30 slides. The investment of 1.55 million euros is another step towards enhancing the already wide offer of our water park, which boasts 14 pools with salt, fresh and thermal water,” said Róbert Šmitala, the general manager of TMR water parks.
This is the second major investment in the development of water parks in the Liptov region in a short period. Just a week ago, a unique Slovak attraction inspired by the world-famous natural wonder Pamukkale was unveiled in Bešeňová – small thermal pools located on the balconies of a renewed accommodation building. The investment in Bešeňová is worth over EUR €10 million.
