JASNÁ/VYSOKÉ TATRY (29th November 2023) Skiers can look forward to great snow conditions in Jasná and Štrbské Pleso, where the ski season begins this Saturday 2nd December.
Record 20 kilometres of pistes will be available in Jasná on the first skiing day and Štrbské Pleso is even about to launch the season one week sooner than planned. “As it got colder, we could start to make snow already in mid-November, fresh snowfall has helped too and all this means that we will have very good snow conditions on the first day of the ski season. It is our previous investments in the snowmaking system that enables us to open a record number of pistes in Jasná so soon, which we are very happy about and skiers must be happy too,” informed Branislav Kačkovič, the operations director of Slovak TMR resorts.
In Jasná, 15 pistes on the northern and southern side of Mt Chopok plus 7 cable cars and lifts are going to be open for the ski season opening – direct lines to Mt Chopok from Krupová and Biela Púť, plus the Záhradky – Rovná hoľa, Lúčky – Vyhliadka and Biela Púť – Koliesko chairlifts. There is about 60 centimetres of man-made and natural snow mixture on average on the pistes. The list of all opened pistes will be published at www.jasna.sk. What’s more, the regular Winter Jasná Opening headlined by Dara Rolins takes place in Jasná on Saturday 2nd December.
Štrbské Pleso planned to open the season on 9th December originally, but thanks to the great snow conditions, they will manage to do it one week sooner – on the Interski, Turistická and Juniorská pistes with about 40 centimetres of man-made and natural snow mixture. Two ski lifts and the Mostíky chairlift are about to operate and the snowmaking process continues on the pistes of Solisko and Furkotka.
Snowmaking is in progress as planned also between Tatranská Lomnica and Skalnaté Pleso. The opening is scheduled for 16th December 2023 there.
The ski season starts in other resorts operated by the TMR company abroad as well. Mӧlltaler Gletscher, which has been open since 5th November, is going to be joined by Špindlerův Mlýn, Ještěd and Szczyrk (BSA pistes) this Saturday.
Ski passes are available at the best prices online via gopass.travel. And for guests staying at TMR hotels in Slovakia, ski passes plus Tatralandia and Bešeňová water park tickets are included in the price.
