Visitors to the High Tatras have another reason to head to Hrebienok this summer, with the opening of a new outdoor bouldering wall at one of the region’s most popular mountain destinations. Situated at an altitude of 1,285 metres, Hrebienok is a well-known starting point for hiking trails and home to the popular Tatra Temple of Ice during the winter season. The new attraction broadens the range of outdoor activities available to visitors throughout the summer.
Bouldering is a style of climbing that does not require ropes or harnesses, with climbers tackling short routes above safety mats. The wall has been designed for all age groups and abilities, offering routes graded from V0 to V10, tailored for absolute beginners but also experienced climbers. It is suitable for families, although children under the age of 15 should be accompanied by an adult.
Located on the south-facing wall of the former Ski Club building, the installation is 13 metres wide and 4.5 metres high. Colour-coded climbing holds clearly mark the different routes, making them easy to follow. The bouldering wall is available free of charge.
“The new bouldering wall is a valuable addition to the activities at Hrebienok, which has long been a favourite destination for family outings,” said Dušan Slavkovský, General Manager of the Vysoké Tatry mountain resort. “Visitors can now combine hiking and relaxing in the nearby Zone of Pleasure with the opportunity to try climbing in a safe and accessible way. No specialist equipment or previous experience is required – just the enthusiasm to have a go.”
