On Saturday 12th September at 13:00, Mt. Chopok is going to experience the first mass bike downhill in history. The rugged terrain of the second highest peak of the Low Tatras is waiting for all lovers of extremes. The race starts at the altitude of 2,004 metres, the track is 5,175 metres long and has a vertical drop of 970 metres. Whoever is the fastest wins. The competitors will bike down from the upper cable car station on top of Mt. Chopok along a medium-difficult track called Summit Flatline, then continue along a traverse gravel road down to Rovná Hoľa and then along the medium-difficult Deer Track from Priehyba to the finish in the area of Záhradky.
Children will be enjoying their last race of the summer at 14:30. The so called Kenzel slalom will test children´s skills on mini bikes or foot-to-floor rides in various categories. Parents and spectators can watch the attractive children´s race in the locality of Záhradky also from a comfortable chairlift. The main programme will finish with the most attractive competition for the spectators – the Ride & Fly jumping race, which is a show of the best jumping performances on bikes over a wooden obstacle. Whoever jumps the farthest wins.
The Rocky Mountain Bike World park in Jasná and its 17 km of tracks with various levels of difficulty and bike cableways will be operating from 9:00 to 18:00 on Saturday 12th September and from 9:00 to 16:00 on Sunday 13th September. Testing of new models of 2016 is available in the locality of Záhradky (electric bikes, downhill bikes and bike trainers) for free, the children´s Kenzel zone will be offering a bike workshop, obstacle courses, skills testing and a children´s mini slalom, a scooter and foot-to-floor ride rental. The smallest bikers will be collecting stamps and can win attractive prizes. Singer Miro Jaroš will be singing for (dis)obedient children, there will be a show with a trained dog, various animations and competition games.
