Lomnické sedlo was opened for skiers on Friday 7th May. The iconic piste could welcome skiers only at the end of winter, which is rather atypical, and offers more than one metre of snow after winter.
“The piste could be opened for the public only after the restrictions were loosened and cable cars were given a green light. Although the original plan was to ski until Sunday, the interest of people is huge and the snow conditions are still very good and ideal for spring skiing. That’s why we have decided to extend our 3-day ski season to a few more days depending on the weather and the snow conditions. We’ll see how long it will last,” said Lukáš Brodanský, the Vysoké Tatry resort manager.
In addition to May skiing, the resort in Tatranská Lomnica has opened the cable car season for tourists as well. They can travel from Tatranská Lomnica up to the summit of Mt Lomnický štít and even spend a Night on Mt Lomnický štít.
The Štrbské Pleso mountain resort ended the ski season on 9th May 2021, the Jasná resort in the Low Tatras is closed from Monday and its further operation will be determined based on current conditions. For now, the cable cars should be opened for tourists at the weekend of 15th -16th May. Skiers will be welcome too, but the pistes will not be groomed.
