The prize of the Central European Corporate Governance Association (CECGA) was commented on by the CEO and Chairman of the Board of TMR, Bohuš Hlavatý, who said: “Tatry mountain resorts, a.s. is a company trading publicly on three stock exchanges – in Bratislava, Prague and Warsaw and operating mountain resorts in the Tatras, which our national treasure. We thus have to and want to be transparent, inform about the latest events in the company and all its results. We are happy that our effort has been successful and awarded a prize.“
CECGA appreciated open approach, extend and information value the TMR Company has been presenting when publishing annual reports on the www.tmr.sk website. The research made by the Association focused on 94 companies and extend, quality and availability of information for investors and shareholders related to company management and governance. The aim was to point out companies that carry out their information duties in an exemplary manner. CECGA based their research on publicly available sources intended for investors and shareholders, the Central Register of Regulated Information of the National Bank of the Slovak Republic and websites of the companies in question.
“This year, we have added specific criteria – details about members of company bodies, remuneration policy, audit committees, remuneration and nominations, and predictable risk factors,“ said Barbora Lazárová, director of CECGA on specific conditions.
CECGA has been watching the development in the field of company management and governance in Slovakia and supporting the transfer from theory to practice. In 2008, the Association published a Corporate Governance Code for Companies in the Slovak Republic, which sets up relations within a company as well as the company´s relations with its environment on the principles of openness, integrity and accountability.
Tatry mountain resorts, a.s. is a top subject in the field of tourism in Central and Easter Europe, which itself or via subsidiaries owns and operates attractive ski resorts and hotels in the area of the Low and High Tatras. These include the resort Jasná Low Tatras and the following hotels: Wellness hotel Grand Jasná, Tri studničky and Chalets Záhradky De Luxe. In the High Tatras, TMR owns and operates resorts Tatranská Lomnica, Starý Smokovec and the following hotels: Grandhotel Praha Tatranská Lomnica, Grandhotel Starý Smokovec, Hotel Slovakia and hotel FIS Štrbské Pleso. TMR also co‐operates the resort Štrbské Pleso and since the winter season 2012/2013 it has been leasing the mountain resort Špindlerův Mlýn in the Czech Republic in cooperation with SMMR, a.s.. TMR owns Tatralandia, the largest Slovak aquapark with all-year operation, which offers a lot of water and other entertainment in the Fun Park relax or in a special tropical hall with sea water. It also offers accommodation in bungalows and suites of the Holiday Village Tatralandia. TMR also owns and rents hotels Kosodrevina, Liptov and Ski&Fun Záhradky and Bungalows. More than 144 million Euros were invested by the end of 2012 in the already mentioned resorts, which helps increase the standard and visitor turnout in the Tatras. The TMR shares have been traded on three European stock exchanges – in Bratislava, Prague and Warsaw since 2012.
