“We are going to have competitors from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Russia here again. This year is very special and symbolic as for numbers – the 8th year taking place on 18/8/2018. The mastery of cooks will be evaluated by a professional jury as well as general public to guarantee objectivity. Representatives of the Slovak Association of Cooks, vice-president Vladimír Lokšík, Karol Sklenár – the chairman of the Tatra Club of the Slovak Association of Cooks and Pastry Cooks and secretary Dušan Bidleň will be there too. The jury will be focusing on the cooking procedure and how clean it is, on the quality of used ingredients and the result, of course. Although everybody goes the same way, not all of them will reach the final destination successfully,” informed Miloš Červenka, the chef at the FIS Hotel in Štrbské Pleso and the main Goulash Cup organiser.
The goulash amount is not so important but 5 portions is the minimum. The upper limit is not specified. People from the public will be tasting the goulash selection and voting for the best speciality via special slips. And what should the best or the most successful goulash be like according to the expert? “Kettle goulash is not a soup or thick pudding. It should not be too fatty and colourless. The taste must correspond with used ingredients and it is also relevant how clean the cooking procedure is. But most importantly, it must be checked all the time. We have already had many competitors with delicious goulash which has got burnt in the end,” concluded Mr. Červenka.
The Goulash Cup will be opened in the presence of motorcyclists of the Harley Davidson no.1 Slovakia club. There are many attractive prizes prepared for the winners. The WATT music band will be there to present their rock repertoire and the event will be hosted by motorcyclist Ľubo Kráľ. For more information, please read www.hotelfis.sk.
