The Heritage Hotels of Europe Awards are given to the best historic hotels. Grandhotel Praha of Tatranská Lomnica won the Heritage & Wellness category. Over one hundred hotels and accommodation facilities from 9 countries were nominated by the public and the winners were chosen by a 7-member jury in the following categories: design, wellness, gastronomy, hospitality, culture, romance and the Host of the year.

“The fact that three Slovak hotels were placed in seven categories and others advanced to the finals proves that the quality of services in Slovakia has significantly improved and we can compete with other countries that have been successful in the field of tourism for decades. These awards do not promote only selected facilities but also Slovakia as a destination,” said Ján Svoboda, the president of the Historic Hotels of Slovakia association.

The general manager of Grandhotel Praha in Tatranská Lomnica has commented the Heritage Hotels of Europe 2018 Award as follows: “The award goes not only to our unique outdoor pool and attractive wellness centre but also the herbal concept that has been presented at our Grand Mountain Spa for several years and is meant to restore the Tatra spa history combined with Tatra nature.”

A Gala Ceremony was held on the occasion of the World Ski Awards 2018 in Kitzbühel, Austria on Saturday and it was the third time in a row that Grandhotel Praha was awarded as Slovakia´s Best Ski Hotel 2018. “We appreciate the award very much and although we are not a ski hotel in the first place, we do our best to guarantee maximum comfort and top-class services for our clients during their ski holidays near pistes – a hotel ski bus operates regularly to the nearby ski resort, ski passes can be topped up at the hotel reception, our guests like our ski depot and other extra services,” added Mr. Jedlička.

The resort of Jasná in the Low Tatras was also awarded with the prestigious “ski business Oscar” in the category of Slovakia’s Best Ski Resort 2018 in Kitzbühel – for the fourth time in a row. World experts and the skiing public acknowledged Jasná for great results in the field of ski tourism. Val Thorens, France was awarded as the best ski resort of 2018.
