Although temperatures will keep falling in December, teeth chattering with cold don´t have any chance behind the walls of the largest water park. The new sunlit indoor hall of the Tropical Paradise is an ideal place after a day spent on skis. There is a new salt “cave” with a special sauna oven stove, which has increased the inner temperature to 48 ˚C. This temperature helps micronize the salt into very fine particles, which get mixed with drops of cardamom and vanilla essence sprayed inside. Salt has beneficial effects on the immune system, relieves stress and tension. Visitors coming to the region of Liptov below the Tatras, to Aquapark Tatralandia can thus enjoy effects similar to those in seaside destinations. Creating a salt cave is truly ground-breaking – not only in Slovakia, but in whole Europe. That´s why there is also a new relaxation Tepidarium next to the salt cave, with anatomically shaped beds forming a kind of Celtic oppidum. A fireplace with ever-burning fire, which used to accompany the Celts at celebrations or in wars in the past, helps create a real Celtic atmosphere. The above mentioned changes complete a series of most significant investments made in Tatralandia – Tropical Paradise. Technical equipment in the salt cave and Tepidarium cost 110,800 EUR in total.
There will be a new rarity in the salt water pool. A great white shark, however, not dangerous for swimming and snorkelling at all. A three-dimensional picture was created in cooperation with an American company. The shark has very special eyes, which keep watching its “victims” everywhere they move. The tropical paradise is now finally finished and brings a bit of seaside world to the Tatras, in spite of freezing outside temperatures. There are constant 32 degrees in the water park Tatralandia. Guests relax in a real tropical paradise under palm trees which are up to 12 metres high, enjoy tropical rain, rattan beds and banana trees with real bananas. Those who haven´t tried sunbathing in these latitudes in winter wearing swimming costumes and swimming in real sea water with beneficial water therapy effects to release muscles and boost metabolism should definitely do so and visit Tatralandia this winter. Pirates of the Caribbean found their home here and so did a true copy of a wooden pirate ship that was wrecked in the land of Tatralandia and barrels with rum tumbled out of the storage area. The rum is now served in the Caribbean Marina Bar. In the evening, the tropical paradise becomes more intimate and visitors can taste delicious mixed cocktails in the Barbados Bar while swimming in water and enjoy a real tropical holiday at least for a while. Tropical dancers guarantee a rich animation programme during the whole day. All age groups fall for attractive sea life they can watch in a snorkelling pool under a rocky cliff. Living cartoon fish characters – Nemo and Dory, anemone, shrimps and corals live in a big aquarium, which is inside the snorkelling pool. And there is a pirate treasure in the pool as well. The interior of the water park has been refurbished with 160 new lockers, cabins, benches and hairdryers.
Those who long for more than just relaxation in sea water with a tropical drink in the hand and prefer ball games, tennis or badminton, will enjoy the Liptov Arena – a multipurpose sports hall located next to the water park. And those who need to feel adrenalin in their blood can try flying in the air at a speed of 230 km/h. Superfly Tatralandia is a freefall simulator where even kids can fly.
Tatralandia is only a 15 minute drive from the ski resort of Jasná. In winter, the accessibility is even better thanks to regional aqua-ski busses. Special season aqua passes for 79 EUR enable daily swimming all winter long. They can be purchased also online, on www.gopass.sk. Without queuing at ticket offices.
