The Mölltaler Gletscher ski resort is reopening the Schareck 2 and Schareck 3 pistes on the Mölltal glacier between the altitudes of 2716 metres and 3122 metres from Friday 2nd October. The Schareck 1 piste should follow soon after.
“Quite a heap of snow was stored in our resort from last winter, twice as much as the year before. Thanks to this supply, our snowmaking system and natural snow, we can open our pistes again and keep them opened until 9th May 2021,“ said Max Gottfried, the general manager of the Mölltaler Gletscher resort.
Snowing in early September was a symbolic signal evoking a genuine skiing atmosphere. Although the weather at altitudes of 2800 to 3122 metres is changeable at the moment, the resort is able to make enough snow once night frosts arrive to guarantee quality skiing on opened pistes.
“We are ready to start with snowmaking on piste number 9, which runs from the panoramic Eissee restaurant (2800 m a.s.l.) to the interchange station of Gondelbahn Eissee (2241 m a.s.l.), as soon as possible,” added Max Gottfried.
The Mölltaler Gletscher resort promises skiing for 10 months per year. Top-class conditions make it a popular training resort among ski teams also in summer. This year, one could meet national teams of Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia there. Besides professional athletes, recreational skiers and snowboarders were enjoying the pistes until 16th August as well and were very happy about a new SNOW PARK, which was designed and tested by top world riders.
Mölltaler Gletscher offers not only excellent skiing adventures but also top-quality facilities. The panoramic EISSEE restaurant located on the edge of the glacier is the heart of the resort. New breakfast products have been added to the traditional abundant menu: Gletscher Frühstück and Eissee Frühstück will be offered between 8:00am and 11:00am with breathtaking panoramic views of the Alps as a bonus. The restaurant with a beautiful sunlit terrace and a sunroom is an ideal relaxation oasis for skiers and tourists but can be used also as a conference room for group and social events thanks to top-quality equipment and comfortable seats.
