Jasná/Vysoké Tatry – 14th January 2022 – New changes as for conditions in tourism. From 19th January, tested skiers can use ski resorts as well based on new anti-Covid precautions and hotel guests have to prepare themselves for the VR+ mode, which favours vaccinated clients with booster doses. Hotels, water parks and ski resorts are doing their best to attract clients with special and reduced-rate offers.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the oncoming Omicron wave have resulted in new precautions and restrictions that are changing the current mode in ski resorts and hotels. “From 19th January, hotel services are going to be available in the VR+ mode, i.e. for clients who have received their booster doses. Recovered clients or those after two COVID-19 vaccination doses are going to get tested like before. The maximum 75% capacity of hotels has been cancelled,” informed Marián Polák, the hospitality director in the Jasná ski resort.

There has been a significant change as for restrictions in ski resorts as well. These are going to be opened for VTR clients. “Cableways are going to work in the same mode as other public transports do. The capacity restrictions have been cancelled too and cableways can be used by vaccinated, tested and recovered passengers. Everybody must wear an FFP2 face mask,” added Dušan Slavkovský, the general manager of the Vysoké Tatry resort.

New rules are coming in the low season, i.e. the period with lower client numbers in tourist resorts. “While on the busiest days at the turn of the years, the occupancy rate of our mountain hotels was about 80% (of the maximum allowed 75% capacity) on average, now the occupancy rate at the hotels in the Liptov region and the High Tatras is about 25%,” informed Matej Hulej, the TMR business manager in Slovakia.

The low season results in lower ski pass prices thanks to dynamic pricing. “Skiing costs much less these days and we are doing our best to make our accommodation establishments attractive too. From Monday, extra hotel packages with ski passes included are going to be offered, a special offer is prepared for water park hotels from Tuesday – free child places until 2nd February. If we take popular recreational vouchers that can still be used into account, winter holidays in Jasná, the High Tatras and water parks are available under very attractive conditions,” concluded Matej Hulej.
