“The Von Roll Restaurant was awarded as the newcomer of the year – The Best New Restaurant. Every year, the Gurmán company is joined by new restaurants which receive at least 4 positive evaluations from our professional jury that visits the respective restaurants incognito. They must have at least 2 evaluations from the evaluators of their region and 2 from representatives of another region. This year, there were 7 new restaurants recommended and Von Roll was given the most points, i.e. it was awarded as The Best of New Restaurants in Gurmán,“ explained Lucia Tomašovičová, the manager of the Gurmán project in Slovakia.
“We are happy to have become a member of the gourmet elite and consider it a prestige to be in the company of top restaurants such as Albrecht of Jaro Židek, Fou Zoo, UFO na moste SNP, or Pavúk Wine Restaurant, Gašperov Mlýn, Matyšák, Villa Rosa and others. By being awarded and published in the “Gourmet in Slovakia” guide, it was not only our restaurant but also our work that was appreciated. And it is a big challenge for us to continue raising the bar higher and higher,“ commented Lukáš Egreši, the F&B manager of the Von Roll Restaurant, Tatry mountain resorts, a.s. on the success.
The Von Roll Restaurant has been regarded as a first-class restaurant for several years and has won many loyal customers. The stylish outlook a la carte restaurant dominates on the ski slope of Luková in winter and livens up not only the ridge of the massive Mt. Chopok but also the taste buds of every gourmet. Von Roll combines a luxurious atmosphere with an impressive original museum of a former cableway station. The unique interior and brilliant kitchen create an ideal background for unforgettable culinary experiences right on a ski slope. The transport to the altitude of 1,670 metres is non-traditional as well. Special Tatra Dinners of Emotions, which have to be booked in advance, bring the history of the cableway that used to connect both side of Mt. Chopok back to life and create harmony of taste with a glass of high-quality wine or a sparkling fireplace, are accessible with a truly original means of transport – a grooming machine. The Von Roll Restaurant serves delicious meals and non-traditional experiences to skiers and lovers of unforgettable moments every winter. The high altitude as well as the surrounding winter nature of the Low Tatras make it an ideal intermediate station for tourists who are spending their winter holiday under Mt. Chopok. The Von Roll Restaurant was awarded as the most popular restaurant in the international quality evaluation system of ski resorts – “Internationaler ski area test” in the winter season of 2013/14. It was given the gold medal and awarded as the only mountain restaurant out of 35 alpine resorts. In addition, Von Roll holds two Slovak records – “Sabrage of the biggest champagne – 9 litres“ and “Sabrage at the highest altitude – 1,670 metres“. For more information, please click HERE.
