Skiresort.info was evaluating resorts based on several criteria such as the offer of ski pistes, transport facilities, ski piste grooming quality, accessibility of resorts, accessibility of ski in-ski out accommodation facilities, parking, information system and navigation around resorts, restaurants and others. The Austrian resort of Kitzbűhel/Kirchberg – KitzSki was the absolute winner with 4.9 out of 5 stars and was declared the WORLD´S BEST SKI RESORT by Skiresort.info.
Slovak and Czech ski resorts were successful too. “It is a great honour for us but also a commitment. This independent evaluation portal monitors various parameters so we perceive it as a valuable feedback that will help us increase the quality in individual fields,” said Juraj Chovaňák, the marketing director of Tatry Mountain Resorts, a.s.
Jasná received the best evaluation as for the Slovak resorts, with 4 out of 5 stars in the category of up to 60 km of ski slopes, and is the only Slovak and Czech resort that can be proud to be called TOP CLASS, just like the Swedish resort of Åre or the Italian resort of Cortina d´Ampezzo. Jasná was evaluated with the maximum number of points for top-quality ski piste grooming, the information system, restaurants and gastronomy, as well as great freeride conditions. Cross-country skiing conditions were evaluated with the lowest number of stars – only two.
Tatranská Lomnica got 3.5 out of 5 stars and was awarded as the INSIDER TIP in the category of ski resorts with up to 20 km of ski slopes. It attracted mainly due to the quality of ski piste grooming and conditions for skiing beginners (5 stars) but got the lowest number of stars for cross-country skiing conditions, snow parks and ski in-ski out accommodation facilities.
Špindlerův Mlýn in the Czech Republic was evaluated with 3.7 out of 5 stars in the category of ski resorts with up to 30 km of ski slopes and declared the INSIDER TIP. Its environmentally friendly concept got 5 stars, conditions for freeriders and experienced skiers were evaluated with the lowest number of stars.
The Austrian resort of Mölltaler Gletscher, which was available for GOPASS card holders in the previous season thanks to the cooperation between TMR and Mölltaler Gletcherbahnen Gesellschaft, was named the INSIDER TIP in the category of ski resorts with up to 20 km of ski slopes. The resort located on the only glacier in Carinthia got 3.7 out of 5 stars – the highest number for great snow conditions and ski piste grooming, the lowest number for Après-ski and ski in-ski out accommodation facilities.
The Skiresort.info portal, which has been testing and evaluating ski resorts since 1998, is the largest portal of its kind and offers details of 5,400 ski resorts all around the world.
