Best of the best chefs, baristas, bartenders and sommeliers of hotels and restaurants appeared on the stage in the open air with their unique gastronomy show. Teams led by professional chefs of Tatra hotels retained their victory of the previous year and were awarded with the so called Balls of sympathy for delicious meals and good service again, voted by visitors of the festival. They were awarded with the first, second and third place for best restaurants. On Friday, the FIS Hotel Štrbské Pleso represented by the chef Miloš Červenka scored with a delicious main course meal – “Pork sirloin wrapped in young rabbit meat and black sesame, served with beetroot puree and breadcrumb dumplings“, on Saturday, the team of the Grandhotel Jasná with the chef Ján Staroň won the most votes with their specialties such as “Beef cheeks stewed in strong meat juice with thyme, served with roast vegetables, potatoes and onions and a rhubarb pudding with strawberry puree as desert “. The team of the Boutique hotel Tri Studničky and their delicacies were the most popular with visitors on Sunday.
It was an intense competition with prestigious restaurants of all Slovakia. “It has been our fourth time at this festival and we could see it is on a high level due to the turnout which broke the record on the first day already. Visitors enjoyed the food at our stand, mainly the meals they usually don´t eat at home. Liptov lamb meat with nettle stuffing and Liptov potato white pudding with sauerkraut were the most successful and preferred meals,“ said Roman Kováč, chef of the Boutique hotel Tri Studničky.
The Gourmet Festival Bratislava 2013 met expectations of all fans of gastronomy experiences. According to the organisers, there were almost 18,000 visitors at the event. “We didn´t disappoint at the festival, people liked the food of our Tatra hotels. We believe we will prepare interesting specialities for visitors of the Gourmet Fest next year again and retain the absolute victory,“ said Ján Staroň from the Grandhotel Jasná with a smile.
