“Tatralandia has always introduced innovations and set trends in the sphere of water park amusement in Central Europe. By building new water slides with big rafts for 4 passengers, it has moved the attractiveness standard a bit higher again and got ahead of the competition. The Polin Waterparks company, which is the world´s leader in the field of development, production and supply of water slides and water attraction, is proud to have built and delivered slides that are truly unique as for Europe. The blue, adrenalin one of the so called Family Turbulence type was named Delphin and is the first and largest water slide of its kind in Europe. Reactions of the first clients who were really excited and wanted to try it again prove that Polin Waterparks and Tatralandia have created a unique piece that will be attractive for water amusement fans from all around the world. Tatralandia has got to the highest quality level in the European environment and we wish all its clients will be happy and satisfied there,” said Ján Gemzický, the representative of Polin Waterparks in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The blue water slide named Delphin is 17.16 m high. At first, passengers experience a steep/big drop down and then they are propelled uphill vertically with help of a special half pipe. They then experience another unforgettable path, this time a reverse path taking them over a bump and ending into a splash pool. The second – yellow-orange slide called 4Family makes it possible to share entertainment and experience the joy of twists, turns and drops as a family in one of 4 passenger circular inflatable rafts. The new slide complex contains a raft conveyor too. The water slides are manufactured via special Resin-Transfer Moulding (RTM) closed moulded composites production technology, which is the latest technology in waterslide manufacturing. The company can obtain a perfectly shiny and smooth finish on both sides of the slide; a more homogenous thickness distribution; perfectly smooth joints, and very important environmental advantages. Polin refers to the look as “Magic Shine”. Most waterslide manufacturers use conventional open-mould processes which result in dull finishes that must then undergo another finishing process to achieve an acceptable exterior. RTM technology, which has been applied to the water slides of Tatralandia, is mostly used in the automotive, marine and aircraft industries. Polin is the only waterslide manufacturer in the world that can produce large waterslide components using this technology and that can offer the complete line as RTM. Along with the appealing aesthetic of a glossy exterior, Polin’s water slides also offer another innovative and patented feature – Polin’s Natural Light Effect (NLE) technology within the enclosed parts. During daylight, this manufacturing process allows the slide’s tubes to come alive with a shifting rainbow of colours. This effect can be seen by both the passengers inside the tubes as well as guests looking at the rides from outside. Polin’s engineers invented this “natural light show” 20 years ago using a special technique that allows sunlight to filter through the slide’s composite material. As water flows through the tubes, it interacts with the light to create the effect. The technology requires no electricity, LED lamps or phosphorous paint.
Delphin and 4Family technical parameters
The water slide tower is 17.16 m high and the highest roof point is as high as 22.16 m, which is almost like a 7-storey block of flats, and the acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h takes only one second. The water slides are 2.8 m wide, the 4-person rafts can transport 1,440 people/hour. Delphin offers a new dimension of water adventures and a free-fall like feeling, 4 Family guarantees crazy rotations and curves with a lot of fun for all family members.
