The mountain resort of Tatranská Lomnica has prepared 3 thematic Dinners Under the Stars. Visitors of Skalnaté Pleso can enjoy a unique programme related to the Midsummer Night (24/6), Bear´s Night (6/8) and The Night of Chefs (20/8).The first gourmets can enjoy the magic of the Midsummer Night this Friday.
St. John´s celebrations are of pagan origin. At summer solstice, people used to make fires on high hills to be protected from evil powers, to honour the Sun and bring the rain that was supposed to help the harvest grow. Rituals, habits and myths were part of the summer solstice traditions and the celebration of four elements – fire, water, earth and air. Fires made on the top of hills above villages were told to have a magical-cleansing power. In the past, every solstice was considered to be the beginning of a new era which was ideal to regenerate the powers of nature and people as well. In pre-Christian times, people believed that herbs found on St. John´s day have healing powers and if picked before sunrise they can even give away what specifically they can heal. “It is the magic of herbs at the first Tatra Dinner of Emotions that will be introduced with teas made of Midsummer´s herbs and liqueurs with extracts of mountain herbs. We hope that the weather will be on our side and a good visibility will guarantee a beautiful view of the lit up basin of Podtatranská kotlina“, said Lukáš Brodanský, the brand manager of the mountain resort Vysoké Tatry.
The Dinners Under the Stars can be booked online on www.gopass.sk, personally, by email or over the phone in the information centre in Tatranská Lomnica. Local Tatra people opened the tourist trails last weekend and plan to attract people with the hits of the summer such as a violin concert in Skalnaté Pleso, the Venetian Night in Štrbské Pleso, Bear Days in Hrebienok or Marmots in Pleso.
