Vysoké Tatry (13th December 2022) Another ski resort is about to open in the High Tatras. Skiers can set out also for Tatranská Lomnica from Saturday 17th December and enjoy an attractive portion of groomed pistes.
The snow guns started to work in Tatranská Lomnica on the day of the winter season opening, i.e. on 17th November, which was really symbolic. “Since then, we have been making snow along the whole way between Skalnaté Pleso and Tatranská Lomnica every time we could. In periods of temperature inversion, it sometimes looked rather like a game of chess, but thanks to our amazing piste masters, we are ready to open the eastern and also the western lines of our pistes – from Čučoriedky to Tatranská Lomnica on Saturday. There is about 50 cm of snow on the pistes these days,” informed Dušan Slavkovský, the general manager of the Vysoké Tatry resort.
Skiers can use the chairlifts on the routes: Tatranská Lomnica – Štart, Tatranská Lomnica – Buková hora, Štart – Čučoriedky, the cable car running between Tatranská Lomnica and Štart, the Junior II lifts and the lifts in Maxiland. Regular tourists can travel with the cable car operating between Štart and Skalnaté Pleso and the cable car between Skalnaté Pleso and Mt Lomnický štít.
The snowmaking process continues in higher located sections of the pistes between Čučoriedky and Skalnaté Pleso.
Complex services such as the ski rental and the ski school including the ski school arena and lifts to guarantee safe lessons for all age groups will be available from Saturday too.
Ski touring fans can use the resort from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. To perform ski touring later (after 8:00pm), please use the Štrbské Pleso resort, which has been open since 10th December. The Interski, Junior and Turistická pistes are at disposal there, snow is being made on the Furkota and Solisko pistes currently. The Jakubkova lúka piste for families in Nový Smokovec will be ready before Christmas.
